Scar and oedema management
Whilst scar and swelling is routinely managed as a part of an acute injury or post surgery, there is a wider scope for management in burns, lymphoedema (upper and lower limb), and chronic oedema affecting movement such as with fractures of the distal radius.HandsOn therapists are experienced in:
- Lymphatic drainage. HandsOn therapists utilise a modified lymphatic massage technique to reduce and control persistent post traumatic hand oedema
- Manual Oedema Mobilisation techniques. This technique is incorporated into a home programme to increase the general flow of lymph in the body and to therefore reduce excessive swelling in the arm and hand
- Measuring and fitting of upper and lower limb compression garments
