Scar Management
Staff at HandsOn are experienced in the treatment of scarring. They participate regularly in training in the latest management techniques and the use of new and emerging products.Scar management is provided as a standard treatment for all upper limb patients. Specialised services can also be provided for other areas of the body including post traumatic, surgical and keloid scarring.
Staff utilise their thorough knowledge of the scarring process to provide individualised programs designed to meet the specific needs of each patient. Treatment will vary depending on the presentation and severity of the scarring and can include any or all of the following:
- Application of silicone and other scar reducing contact media
- External compression
- Scar massage
- Therapeutic ultrasound
- Measurement and fitting of customised pressure garments
