Home visits
This extensive service is carried out by occupational therapists skilled in the assessment of home environments and the prescription of aids to daily living.
Home visits can be of benefit to those who are at risk of falls, are elderly or frail, in a palliative care phase or experience difficulties performing daily living tasks due to illness or injury.
Therapists assess the home for safety and function and are able to advise on modifications and equipment to assist clients to live as independently as possible in their own homes. This can include the installation of grab rails, the provision of modified utensils and the installation of personal alarm systems.
HandsOn occupational therapists are accredited with the Department of Veterans Affairs and therapists are familiar with their scope of services.
When required, other resources and services can be utilised, such as LifeTec Queensland ( www.lifetec.org.au ) who provide independent information on adaptive equipment. |
