Education
Due to expertise in the area of hand and upper limb management, HandsOn staff are involved in a regular programme of professional education forums.
Undergraduates are regularly welcomed at HandsOn as part of the University of Queensland clinical placement program for occupational therapy students. In addition, post graduates are welcome to ‘workshadow' at HandsOn. Workshadowing offers a unique opportunity to upgrade both knowledge and skills related to hand therapy, in a clinical setting with qualified hand therapists. This can be undertaken on an informal mentoring program.
HandsOn are able to deliver tailored workshop programmes for your workplace. These workshops can be conducted at HandsOn or at your facility. Workshop programmes are designed to meet your clinical needs, both in terms of topic and timeframes. Common requests are basic and advanced splinting techniques, management of common hand conditions and management of hypertonicity. All workshops include splinting demonstrations and construction practice for participants. The aim of the workshops is to make therapists more confident with the use of thermoplastics and more confident with splint prescription.
Further information for all workshops, together with registration details, is available from :
